What to Expect during a Colon Hydrotherapy Session
Colon Hydrotherapy is a treatment where water is irrigated through the colon as long as waste is releasing from the body.
Steps of the Session
The client begins by lying on a table on their left side with their legs bent at a 90 degree angle so as to open up the colon.
The therapist inserts an instrument known as a speculum into the rectum. The speculum goes into the body approximately 1”. Water is feed in while outflow tubes are attached to the speculum to allow for the inflow of water and the outflow of water and waste.
The session time may vary from 25 to 45 minutes. The length of time is determined by the colon’s release and nothing else.
The left side is cleansed first so as to attempt to empty the colon in somewhat of a linear fashion; the rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon and up to the splenic flexure.
The therapist will determine when the water has reached the splenic flexure; once this occurs, the client changes their position and turns to lie on their back for the next portion of the session. The therapist then pauses the session to close the ileocecal valve and massage the colon. The ileocecal valve comes from the small intestine into the large intestine. Closing this valve prevents anything traveling in a reverse direction back into the small intestine.
The colon hydrotherapy session is contained in the large intestine only. The session continues across the transverse colon to the hepatic flexure (around the liver) to the ascending colon and then the cecum. The main objective of the colonic is to empty the cecum. The cecum is a large, thin pouch where the small intestine empties into the large intestine. This pouch can hold poisonous waste, worms, parasites, etc. The release of the cecum in a cleansing session will have a different color and consistency and the client will feel a warm temperature when the cecum matter releases from the body.
Once the water has reached the end of the colon, the client then returns to the left side to complete the therapy and drain remaining water, waste and gases from the body.
Dormant Gases
It is common for dormant gases to awaken during a detoxification process. The colon therapist attempts to neutralize this event during the last phase of the hydrotherapy session. Some gases may continue to purge through the system in days that follow the cleanse. Drinking water helps to move theses gases through the system and out the body. Boiled ginger root tea is also beneficial.
These gases come not only from the colon but the cells, organs and tissues of the entire body. As the body detoxifies, it contracts the cells and detoxifies all the parts simultaneously, as other systems of the body detoxify, resulting in the purging of toxins and gases.
The loosening of the poisons and gases is temporary and will be relatively short in duration. Each individual will detoxify in their own unique way and the process is relative to the level of toxicity at the start of the detoxification process.
