Ayurvedic Medicine in Action: Shirodhara at Healing Way in Miami
Dr. Zyad, A.P., OMD, DNBHE, a holistic healer in South Florida and owner of
Healing Way, is on the cutting edge of Oriental Medicine and leading South Florida in Ayurvedic wellness.
If all those pedigrees behind his name aren't convincing enough, watch Dr. Zyad explain Shirodhara, a hot oil therapy treatment, used commonly in Ayurvedic medicine to relieve stress and open up the third eye." Hot oil is slowly dripped on the patient's forehead while soft Indian music is piped into a dimly-lit and fragrance-filled room.
Dr. Zyad is not only an NCAA-board certified Acupuncture physician, he is also an herbalist and homeopath who has practiced in South Florida for more than 15 years. With parents who hail from India, New York and Malaysia, the Trinidadian-born alternative healer aims to help patients maintain a tridoshic trinity of balanced middle ground between vata, pitta and kapha personalities and lifestyles.
His passion for healing is evident with one glance around his herb shop, located in Miami. Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs brought in from abroad and the U.S., as well as other natural remedies and medicines are Dr. Zyad's approach to integrating modern healing philosophies with ancient wisdoms.
Now that Dr. Zyad's Ayurvedic herb shop, Healing Way, is harmoniously on its own successful path, he is branching off to new endeavors. His new challenge will be creating an Ayurvedic Medicine school and training center in South Florida. He will be taking a trip to India in October bringing back authentic monks to teach Ayurvedic practices starting in January 2008.
By the way, here's the breakdown of those certifying letters that Dr. Zyad worked so hard to obtain:
A.P. Acupuncture Physician
OMD (Doctor of Oriental Medicine)
DNBHE (Diplomate of National Board of Homeopathic Examiners)
