Calcium-Rich Diets

If only we could fix solve all of the problems associated with nutrition deficit with the ease and quickness of swallowing a pill. Supplements are an excellent way to provide your body’s systems with an extra boost, but the best way to ensure your nutritional needs are being met is through a healthy diet.
A study published in the May edition of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that food sources are the most effective method for ensuring your body is receiving its recommended daily doses, particularly with calcium.
Dr. Mercola explained, “[The study] found that women who get most of their daily calcium from food sources have healthier bones and greater bone density, even though those who took more supplements tended to have higher average levels of calcium.” Calcium ingested both through food and supplements proved to be the best method for increasing bone mineral density.
Besides dairy, excellent sources of calcium include green, leafy veggies. Dr. Mercola also suggests that “your diet contains healthy levels of omega-3 fats, which are the stealth dietary weapon in preserving your bone density. Even many nutritionists are not aware of the important relationship between healthy bones and optimal fat intake.”
