Chemical Criminal: Bisphenol-A

USA Today reported this morning that a federally-funded study found that Americans are exposed to a common chemical daily in amounts exceeding government limitations.
The chemical substance is known as bisphenol-A, and it is a dirty one.
According to the
Bisphenol-A Free Organization, an alliance of media promoting the banning of bisphenol-A, this is a chemical of epic disruptive proportions. It is a hormone-disrupting chemical known to produce cancers, impaired immune function, early onset of puberty, obesity, diabetes and hyperactivity, through animal tests.
How does it get into our bodies?
We’ve been sucking on it since birth.
Bisphenol-A leaks into breast milk and formula from baby feeding bottles, namely Avent, Dr. Brown's, Evenflo, Gerber, and Playtex.
It’s also been found inside dental sealants and linings of metal cans, among other things.
But the funny thing is, Bisphenol-A Free Organization shows reports dating back to 2005, and lawmakers in California, Maryland and Minnesota have tried to ban it for the past two years.
