Dr. Oz and Bob Greene Team Up for Your Heart

Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning America featured Oprah’s famous friends, Dr. Oz and exercise physiologist Bob Greene, promoting their new health DVD, Heartfelt for Life.

According to ABC News, 1.2 million Americans will suffer from heart attacks this year, with heart disease ranking as the number one cause of death in this country. Of the victims who have a heart attack, 20 percent of men and 30 percent of women will have a second attack within five years.

While proper nutrition is a crucial factor in maintaining a person’s health, Dr. Oz explained that exercise “is the most important predictor of a person's life span,” because it lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, and reduces the chance of a heart attack by 35 percent.

Cardiovascular exercise that makes you break into a sweat is the way to go. This can be accomplished with workouts like yoga or power walking for 30 minutes for six days a week. The popular power duo explained that “if you can't walk a quarter of a mile in 20 minutes…a 30 percent chance exists that [you] will be dead in two years.”

MarketWire reported that “during the next three months, thousands of free DVD and VHS copies of the Heartfelt for Life video will be distributed at viewing seminars taking place at senior centers and medically based exercise facilities across the United States.”
