FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Curing Alzheimer's With Curry

HealthDay News' Wednesday issue reported that there is yet anothe rreason to tout tumeric, besides the one we already gave you on altMD.

The curry spice chemical bisdemethoxycurcumin dissolves the brain plaques that cause Alzheimer's disease. Bisdemethoxycurcumin is the active ingredient in our old friend curcuminoids, found in tumeric root. Studies showed that curcumin significantly protected cells and contributed to the reduced amount of swelling.

Less than one percent of the Indian population (big curry eaters!) ever gets Alzheimers. The study was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
