If You Drink Like A Fish, You Better Eat Like One Too
Science Daily reported today that men who binge drink have alarmingly low Essential Fatty Acid rates.
These EFAs just happen to be the building blocks of cells responsible for growth, development and a host of other intrinsic functions, the most important of which are polyunsaturated fatty acids and omega-3s, the study said.
There is direct correlation between alcoholism and a poor diet, which exacerbates their already low EFA rates.
However, eating fish straight from the deep is now considered dangerous due to the high levels of mercury found in most bodies of water. Besides, fish don’t synthesize omega 3s, they get it from algae and krill.
Therefore, in order to keep the body functioning normally, binge-drinking men need to eat more of what the fish eat – algae suplements and krill oil.
The study could not be conducted on women but experts cited in the August issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research suggest that everyone heed the advice if they have a high level of alcoholic intake, meaning more than one drink a day.
