Internet to the Rescue for Diabetic Diets

How fortunate we are to live in such an advanced, 21st century society! Now we can reverse debilitating conditions though high tech cyber mediums.
Every Thursday evening at 8:00 diabetics can get free cooking demonstrations and educational presentations on live computer broadcast from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
Healthy News reports that PCRM’s nutrition experts hope to teach “how the right dietary approach can help people manage, and in many cases actually reverse, type 2 diabetes.”
Past programs covered by Neal Barnard, M.D., president of PCRM, have included topics like weight control, holiday snacking and healthy eating habits in the workplace. Recipes from Dulcie Ward, R.D., are cooked right on stage and have featured Black-Eyed Pea and Sweet Potato Soup as well as Pasta Primavera.
The inspiration for the advanced cyber broadcast comes from Dr. Barnard’s research that was supported by the National Institutes of Health and published in Diabetes Care.
According to Healthy News, his clinical study proved that “a low-fat vegan diet is more effective at lowering high blood sugar than the standard diabetes diet or oral medications usually recommended. The diet is also effective at lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol and reducing weight.”
Tune in at 8:00 for the live Thursday evening broadcast, or catch the re-aired version on Sunday afternoons at 1:00. The broadcast is an interactive project, with views sending in questions and reporting on their progress. For the technologically challenged, tech support is provided.
