Kid-Friendly Yoga

Yoga isn’t just for adults anymore. In South Florida, children can benefit from the healing effects of a yoga wellness program too.

YogaKids is making the rounds at municipal health centers and public schools and in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. This summer YogaKids offered its program at the JAAC’D Up Sports Center in Hallandale. And if all goes according to reported plans, it will soon be available in Aventura as well.

This yoga program is designed to help children deal with the stresses of growing up in today’s hectic, busy and sometimes, difficult world. The 45-minute class is divided into three sessions: the physical asanas or yoga poses, proper, healthy breathing and guided relaxation.

The innovator behind this concept for children’s health is Michelle Bayes a certified yoga instructor who also holds a degree in early childhood education.
