Massage Therapy Corners Market in Spa Requests

Take a backseat, face masks and herbal wraps. There’s a more popular spa trend in town: Massage Therapy.

According to statistics released by the International Spa Association, massage therapy is one of the top three treatments offered at international spas. In fact, a full-body massage is the number one requested treatment at U.S. spas, numbering at more than 32 million.

Other spas featured in the study were located in Austria, Japan, Australia, and Thailand, and there are actually more than 150 million active spa consumers worldwide, said the findings.

Following closely behind full-body massage were aromatherapy and reflexology.

These findings do not discount the studies that show massage is not just a an alternative medicine treatment of luxury, but in fact add evidence of its use in places typically considered mainstream beautification treatment centers.
