National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Late last year the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) announced plans to move its national headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida. The move is now completed with the new office headquarters located on Jacksonville’s Laura Street.

The reason for the move was mainly an economic one, as the real estate prices in the old location of Alexandria, Virginia became unaffordable.

The NCCAOM is an official certifying agency that was established in 1982. Once practitioners meet national recognized standards they become an NCCAOM diplomate. The designation as an “NCCAOM Diplomate in Acupuncture” carries weight and prestige as it indicates to employers, peers, and potential patients the diplomate’s mark of excellence in acupuncture from the Commission.

The NCCAOM offers four different certification programs in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, Oriental medicine, and Asian bodywork therapy.
