Nature's Herbs Help Fight Cancer

New medical science suggests that elements and natural herbs extracted direct from Mother Nature can treat lung, brain, prostate and skin cancers.

What are these natural healing miracles? Tree bark and marijuana.

In a study conducted at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a South American tree called lapacho is shown to have cancer fighting compounds in its bark. Dr. David Boothman and his team “found beta-lapachone interacts with an enzyme…which is present at high levels in…lung cancer and other solid tumors. In tumors, the compound is metabolized…and produces cell death without damaging non-cancerous tissues…”

You can find more information on the natural healing properties of lapacho bark from The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Other hope for cancer patients is found once again in the natural herb, marijuana. This time marijuana is not just relieving patients of severe nausea caused by chemotherapy, but is actively working in the body to fight the egregious disease.

Anju Preet, Ph.D., a researcher in the Division of Experimental Medicine conducted studies at Harvard that show THC, marijuana’s active ingredient, reduced the growth of tumors in the lungs of lab mice by one half. The American Association for Cancer Research showed information that proposes THC is also supportive in fighting other deadly forms of the disease including in the brain, skin and prostate.

"The beauty of this study is that we are showing that a substance of abuse, if used prudently, may offer a new road to therapy against lung cancer,” said Dr. Preet.
