BBC reported that potatoes may be one of the reasons humans survived 4 million years ago.
According to researchers at the University of California Santa Cruz, even hunter-gatherers ate relatively little meat, but thrived instead on potatoes.

Additionally, these California researchers discovered that humans carried extra AMY1 genes which is facilitate the production of amylase, an enzyme that specifically digests starches.
Potatoes,sturdy root vegetables, are easy to grow and contain a rich combination of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, the B-complex vitamins, iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.
For centuries man has also been using the potatoe's medicinal properties to prevent spasms, aid digestion, and more. Potatoes are good for stomach ulcers and reduce stomach acidity.
