Reading Round-up: Best 168 Medical Schools, 2007 Edition

The Princeton Review recently released the latest edition of their book,
Best 168 Medical Schools, 2007 Edition, with one particularly interesting chapter that profiles each of the six naturopathic medical schools who are members of the
Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges.
Included are Bastyr University in Washington, National College of Natural Medicine in Oregon, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Arizona, University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in Connecticut and Canada’s two member schools, Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Chapter three, So You Still Want to Be a Doctor, explains the difference between allopaths, naturopaths, and osteopaths. The latest editions states, “[n]aturopathic physicians (NDs) take a holistic approach to healing, and aim to cure disease by taking advantage of the body’s self-regenerative powers and harnessing the restorative power of nature… naturopathic physicians emphasize natural remedies… [they] work to identify and eliminate the cause of disease…”
Mission statements from these six naturopathic medical schools include philosophies of “living that leads to radiant health.”
