Reading Round-up: Wherever You Go, There You Are

Recommended reading in alternative medicine includes Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Stanford University School of Medicine’s Dr. Kenneth Pelletier explains that it is “a truly profound book in its deceptive simplicity and insight.” Other reviews from AltMedicine proclaim that this guide "makes learning meditation remarkably easy."

“Nowhere else in the literature of meditation can you find so simple and commonsensical a path to yourself,” is the word on the street from acclaimed TV producer Norman Lear.

The author of this meditative manuscript, Dr. Kabat-Zinn, leads the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Stress Reduction Clinic and is also an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine. And though this book was originally published many moons ago, it is still recommended as a great guide for beginners.

Since its original publishing date, Dr. Kabat-Zinn has continued helping people on their paths to healing and enlightenment with The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness, a collaborative effort with colleagues from Oxford University, Cambridge University and the University of Toronto.
