South Florida's Acupuncture & Massage College

Those of us who are fortunate enough to live in South Florida have access to one of the state’s oldest schools for alternative medicine.

The Acupuncture & Massage College, located in South Miami, has been training acupuncturist and massage therapists since 1983.

Florida was the third state in the country to make acupuncture a regulated, licensed practice in 1982. And the president of the Acupuncture & Massage College, Rev. Dr. Richard Browne, was one of the first to get on board; his state license number is 22 (out of thousands that are licensed today).

Dr. Browne comes from a long line of holistic healers, four generations strong.

His work in the field of acupuncture and massage therapy pioneered the way for many students to become the holistic healing specialists that we seek care from today.

The Acupuncture and Massage College offers a massage therapy tract that lasts for seven months, while the other tract involves obtaining a Master of Oriental Medicine degree, both of which are accredited by ACCST and the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

Watch as Rev. Dr. Browne speaks with our altMD correspondent and administers the traditional Chinese medicine treatments of acupuncture and shiatsu.
