Study Proves No Association Between Chiropractic Manipulation and Stroke

In a groundbreaking announcement released at the Florida Chiropractic Association’s National Convention & Expo this August, a rumor was put to rest, ChiroWeb reported.

For years, a vertebral artery dissection (VAD) and stroke immediately following a chiropractic visit were blamed on the chiropractic visit.

A recent study involving about 100 million people proved that other factors are actually to blame. And in fact, the VAD is already in progress, causing neck pain, leading to chiropractic visits. The study also reported only a handful of stroke cases following chiropractic manipulation.

VAD'S study, which will be published in the European Spine Journal, also showed that the association between the stroke and the office visit was no higher in chiropractic patients than in patients under the care of a general physician.

This news will also benefit chiropractors involved in litigation brought about by this subject.

The best preventative measure is to familiarize one's self with the VAD symptoms and get checked prior to seeking relief from a chiropractor.
