Tai Chi's Proven Benefits

The ancient art of Chinese exercise known as Tai Chi offers numerous proven benefits in the world of alternative healing. And recently, a new study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has found another one.

Tai Chi can help prevent shingles in seniors.

The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society reported that this NIH research “is the first rigorous clinical trial to suggest that a behavioral intervention…can help protect older adults from VZV, which causes both chickenpox and shingles."

The validity of the study is backed by both the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and the National Institute on Aging.

The research also showed other alternative healing advantages of practicing Tai Chi including a reduction in overall pain in the body, increased vitality, mental health and mobility.

Tai Chi employs slow and controlled aerobic movements that incorporate meditative and relaxation techniques which help boost the immune system.
