Yoga Helps Breast Cancer Patients Cope With Radiation

In a study done by the
American Society of Clinical Oncology, researchers found that breast cancer patients who practice yoga while on radiation treatment are able to handle the demands of the severe treatment.
Senior Health Week reports that women from stage zero to three breast cancer were given a program specifically designed for limited mobility and emphasizing the techniques which have made yoga famous for physical and mental restoration - the yogic breath.
Women in the group who performed yoga twice a week along with radiation found that they had better physical function during treatment, had lower levels of fatigue, and felt better about themselves.
Since then, more studies have been launched integrating the use of this alternative medicine with breast cancer patients' radiation therapy, as a form of standard care.
