acupuncture information

Acupuncture is a system of medicine based upon the foundational theories of Oriental Medicine.  By inserting acupuncture needles into specific points on the body along energy pathways called meridians, a physiological change can be induced that alters the perception of pain, the functioning of internal organs, and even the emotional state of the patient.  Acupuncture has been in use for over 3,000 years, and has spread from China to lead to the development of a multitude of styles and techniques. Acupuncture has been experiencing a marked increase in acceptance in the US, primarily due to its effectiveness in clinical research and low risk of side effects. Acupuncture is primarily practiced by Licensed Acupuncturists that have completed a 4 year post-graduate Masters degree.

Acupuncture Styles

While Acupuncture originated in China approximately 3,000 years ago, the practice spread over the Asian continent and developed its own regional adaptations leading to many different styles of acupuncture.
