ashrams information

Ashrams are a form of Hindu –based community centers that are based on the development of spiritual practices, such as yoga and meditation.  Ashrams are often located in natural surroundings, such as mountains or forests, as these environments support the spiritual cleansing practices.  Most ashrams maintain strict daily schedules of meditation and yoga classes that are followed by all visitors and residents.  In addition, most ashrams only serve vegetarian foods and prohibit the use of alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco. Ashrams offer a variety of residential courses where visitors are housed in dormitories and receive instruction on dharma, meditation, and yoga.
Transcendental Meditation

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is both a technique and a business. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi popularized TM through his ashram in the foothills of the Himalayas.
