hand therapy information

Hand Therapy is the science of physical rehabilitation of the upper ¼ of the body, including the hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder.  It is a specialty of both Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.  Specialists in Hand Therapy, known as Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs), complete extensive post-certification training to specialize in this field.  Hand Therapists focus on helping individuals regain maximal use of their hands after surgery, trauma, or neurological dysfunction.  By creating specialized rehabilitation programs, Hand Therapists can address a variety of conditions including repetitive stress injuries, reconstructive surgeries, and prosthetics.
