Holistic Medicine, or Holistic Health, is a philosophical application of medical care where the entire patient is considered, including mind, body, and emotions. Holism refers to a concept that an individual is greater than the sum of their parts. While conventional medicine focuses its treatment on the alleviation of key symptoms through standardized procedures, Holistic Medicine attempts to view the condition and treatment as an individualized case that requires adjustments to each individual’s needs. Every individual has unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs that must be addressed to provide the necessary healing. The term Holistic Medicine is not attached to any particular style of care, and it can be used in practice by every health care practitioner.
