Integrative Medicine, or Integrated Medicine, is a form of medicine that combines conventional medical treatment with Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) treatments to provide the best of both worlds to patients. The primary effect of the revitalizing effort of Integrative Medicine is the emphasis on the patient-physician relationship, which recognition by conventional care providers on the importance of lifestyle, diet, exercise, and emotional well-being for overall health. Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their health care, as well as doctors taking responsibility as role models for their patients. The Integrative Medicine focus on healing is dramatically affecting our system of health care today.
