physical therapy information

Physical Therapy, also known as physiotherapy, is a form of medical treatment that focuses on the rehabilitation of individuals with various physical disabilities. Most treatment is related to the muscle skeletal system to provide therapy after injury, surgery, or physical defects.  Other forms of Physical Therapy include cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation (asthma, COPD), neurological physical therapy (post-stroke), and integumentary physical therapy (wounds, burns).  Physical Therapists in the US all practice after passing the National Physical Therapy Examination.  The most current educational programs now offer Doctoral Degrees in Physical Therapy. Some Physical Therapy treatments are conducted by Physical Therapy Assists (PTAs) under the guidance of Physical Therapists.
