pilates information
Pilates – also known as The Pilates Method – is a physical fitness system of techniques developed by Joseph Pilates during World War One to help returning veterans with their rehabilitation for a variety of injuries and health conditions. Pilates focused on mental and physical health and believed that combined, they are essential for appropriate healing. Pilates promoted very specific exercises and precise movements which emphasized control and form to help injured soldiers to regain their health by strengthening, stretching, and stabilizing key muscles. Pilates created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement. Pilates today has millions of devotees worldwide.
