biofeedback information

Biofeedback is defined by the National Institute of Mental Health as a treatment technique in which people are trained to improve their health by using signals from their own bodies. According to the Mayo Clinic, Biofeedback is an effective type of complementary and alternative medicine from the branch of healing called mind-body therapy. As the name suggests, the Biofeedback practitioner uses feedback from a variety of monitoring procedures and equipment to engage the patient in learning to control certain involuntary body responses, like brain activity, blood pressure, muscle tension and heart rate to help treat a wide range of mental and physical health problems and a patient’s overall health and sense of well-being.  Ongoing clinical trials are evaluating Biofeedback in numerous health conditions today.
