t.e.n.s. therapy information

T.E.N.S. stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, and is a very common and well accepted form of electrical stimulation used to pain issues in patients and is often paid for by insurance companies a safe and effective treatment modality.  T.E.N.S. Therapy works using a small, battery-operated device that delivers low-voltage electrical current through the skin via electrodes placed near the source of pain. It is believed that the electrical current stimulates nerves in the affected area and sends signals to the brain that "scramble" normal pain perception. T.E.N.S. Therapy is not a painful treatment in patients and has been proven in multiple clinical studies to be an effective therapy to mask pain.
