Welcome to Acupuncture Center of Overland Park

With two Midwest locations and a third coming soon to Lincoln,NE, The Acupuncture Centers are the leaders in the field of Alternative Treatment through the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture.

At the Acupuncture Centers we specialize in treating the whole person through the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, often also combined with spinal manipulation, dietary adjustments, physical activity, and massage.

Western medicine is a vast and amazing field which treats a multitude of illnesses, however, as many of our patients have discovered, there remain many health issues untreatable by mainstream medicine without the use of harmful medications which provide only a temporary mask to the pathology at hand. As our patients have also discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture, herbal remedies, Tui Na, and moxibustion, allow and enable the body to heal, whereby reducing and/or eliminating the need for harmful medications and invasive procedures.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ancient healing art that is thousands of years old. It is considered one of the most holistic medicines today. Signs and symptoms are addressed in relation to the body as a whole, comprising body, mind, and spirit. This is what makes TCM such a unique medical practice its holism. In traditional Chinese medicine, disease and pathology are viewed as a product of imbalance. The body is viewed as having an innate powerful energy called Qi that promotes health and well-being. If the Qi is properly functioning, health and wellness will flourish. No disease can be present in a balanced state. On the other hand, if the body is in a state of chaos and imbalance, disease is sure to follow, it is just a matter of time.

Lifestyle changes, such as exercise, are also commonly recommended as a part of your treatment. Physical activity promotes improved cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength and flexibility while at the same time triggering the production of endorphins which alleviate pain and improve mental attitude. Regular exercise also increases your HDL (good) cholesterol, helps lower your total cholesterol, and helps lower your blood pressure. Exercise can also help alleviate stress and make you more productive, so choose something that you enjoy and stick with it. The Acupuncture Centers in the Kansas City area provide information on convenient studios and gyms in the area that offer a wide assortment of options for physical activity, as does The Acupuncture Center of Omaha. The most commonly recommended exercise is the exercise that is the most enjoyable, convenient, and beneficial for nearly everyone - yoga. You’ve probably heard that yoga is good for you and maybe were afraid to try it or felt that you didn’t have the flexibility. At the Acupuncture Center of Omaha we offer several local Yoga options - ask about the one that is right for you.

The many physical benefits include increased flexibility, increased range of motion to muscles and joints, and increased strength and muscular tone all of which help prevent many types of back and joint pain. Yoga also introduces you to calming meditation allowing you to forget the stressors of the day and finally relax and find perspective.
