Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based on a Chinese healing modality with over 5000 years of history. It is a safe and holistic style of treatment.
The premise of Acupuncture is that Qi (vital energy) flows through the channels of the body. When Qi is blocked or deficient, discomfort or disharmony is felt. Acupuncture rebalances the body and ensures the smooth flow of Qi.
Needles are inserted on specific points on the body allowing the smooth flow of Qi. A sense of relaxation is felt after a session of Acupuncture.

Many MD’s are recommending Acupuncture for its effective relief of various medical conditions.

Acupuncture is used to treat:

  • Common cold and Immunity disorders
  • Neck and Back tension
  • Arthritis
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Asthma, Bronchitis and other Respiratory disorders
  • Constipation, Chronic Diarrhoea, IBS and other Digestive disorders
  • Menstrual disorders and Menopausal symptoms
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia
  • Anxiety, Insomnia
  • Addictions

Acupuncture needles are very thin and are inserted by the therapist with a quick, light motion that creates little or no discomfort at all. Once the treatment has begun, your body immediately begins to balance itself naturally. The insertions are retained anywhere from 20 – 45 minutes. On completion of a session of Acupuncture, you can expect to feel a sense of relaxation and ease that will last for some time. Home care exercises, dietary advice etc.

Clean needle technique in Acupuncture is a given and follows western medical standards of care. Only single-use, pre-sterilized, needles are used.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is Japanese, non-invasive physical therapy designed to stimulate the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. It is founded upon similar principles as acupuncture.

The Shiatsu therapist uses her hands, thumbs and elbows to manipulate the body using various techniques. Pressure is adjusted to the client's comfort level and can range from light and gentle to strong and vigorous.

Treatments directly address the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). We feel calm and relaxed, sleep is improved and we feel less pain. The goal of shiatsu is to improve body functioning, prevent illness and promote health and well-being.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-surgical, effective and holistic treatment based on the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatment involves the insertion of very thin disposable needles into specific points on the face and body. It is used to help reduce the signs of aging without the risks or side effects of surgery or injections. Treatments help fill out the lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.

Treatments can also help to improve overall wellness. Improving other aspects of your health will help to maintain the benefits of your facial rejuvenation.

The full treatment course usually consists of 10-12 treatments, 1–2 times per week.

You will receive as part of your treatment:

  • Initial Assessment and Diagnosis
  • Therapeutic and Cosmetic Acupuncture
  • Dietary Suggestions
  • Shiatsu Facial Massage (acupressure)
  • Facial Serum is applied with each session to help make the skin smoother and firm
