Mind, Emotions, & Physical Health - How Subconscious Beliefs and Emotions Create Illnesses, From Arthritis & Allergies to Cancer & Heart Disease

Our physical bodies function according to energetic and information-based processes guided by subconscious levels of our being.  Our minds literally create health or illness since some layer of our consciousness is operating the body and creating whatever state we are in.  There are a variety of healing systems that examine how this mind-body system works and how we can heal physical conditions by addressing the psychological and energetic disturbances that have led to illness.  In this article I will be discussing some of these systems to help readers gain an understanding of why these forms of healing are vital to truly resolving health concerns.

Famed author Louise Hay (You Can Heal Your Life, Heal Your Body) collects a long list of health issues and the underlying psychological issue associated with them in her best-selling books.  She's also a living example of how this can be used to heal even the most serious, advanced illnesses such as cancer.  Louise healed her breast cancer by shifting her thoughts and attitude, clearing old emotions, and using diet and lifestyle changes to help facilitate a cleanse of her physical body.  In Louise Hay's writings and many other sources it is noted how cancer is generally associated with unresolved anger.  A famous bioenergetic healer I've met named Zeev Kolman has described how he sees cancer as being about 80% due to emotional/energetic factors.  In Louise Hay's books you'll learn how arthritis is associated with rigid, critical psychological attitudes and Heart disease can be due to grief and emotional pain.  You can look through her books for an extensive list of these correlations.

Many energetic healers identify how organs are connected with specific emotions (e.g. liver is related to anger) and how subtle energy centers called chakras are where psychological issues get processed.  There are seven major chakras which relate to key apsects of human psychological development.

The 1st chakra is the root/base chakra, which relates to our vital energy and our sense of safety, security, and stability.  The 2nd chakra relates to creativity and sexuality.  The 3rd chakra is our personal power and how we assert ourselves in the world.  The 4th chakra is where we process emotions, especially emotions like love, gratitude, sadness, and grief.  The 5th chakra is the communication center and the 6th chakra is our center for vision and insight - how we see things.  The 7th chakra, called the crown, is our connection to our spiritual source, our relationship with a higher power by whatever name we call it.  The energy centers spin and distribute energy in a vortex-like fashion.  They interface non-physical energy with our physical body, which has to have this inflow of energy to remain alive and functioning.

When we experience emotional distress and fail to release that emotional energy it gets trapped energetically and will imprint into our physical body.  There are cases such as those described in Paul Pearsall's The Heart Code where organ transplant recipients take on memories and habits from the donor since those organs held the person's mental/emotional imprints in their energy fields.  The focal points of these energetic disturbances tend to be in the chakra regions.  Then, depending upon the specific nature of the psychological issue that is present, an illness may be generated in a corresponding organ or body system that has a symbolic connection with the psychological issue.  This is a form of psychosomatic illness causation that happens subconsciously.

Dr. Hamer, the founder of German New Medicine, which now has a few offshoots, (www.germannewmedicine.ca and www.newmedicine.ca as well as www.metamedicine.info and www.biodecoding.com), discovered how psychological stresses and conflicts become expressed as specific illness patterns in the body, beginning with his research on cancer.  Hamer's theory is well developed and describes natural principles that govern how the body-mind system generates these conditions.  In this system, using mind-body and emotional healing techniques is as much a part of treatment as physiological interventions.  Unless the psychological pattern and related emotional energy pattern is transformed the issue is not resolved - even if the symptoms are effectively suppressed the pattern is still present at a subconscious/energetic level and would be passed on to descendants whose DNA is tuning into the disturbed field of consciousness and ancestral cellular memory.  For details about DNA and how consciousness and subtle energies influence genetic expression you can visit http://www.phinsights.com/healingdna.html

In methods such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NMT (Neuromodulation Technique) therapists help heal a variety of health issues by clearing distressing emotional patterns that have been imprinted and are influencing body regulation.  Allergies are one of the issues that have responded very well to these clearing approaches.  These clearings typically involve creating active awareness of the emotional issue and then tapping on acupressure points, the spine, or chakra regions to induce a shift or release of the pattern at the physical level.  In the Deep Emotional Release Bodywork technique that I recently learned from shamanic healer and experienced shiatsu practitoner James Hyman, emotional release points are correlated with the chakras.

So, I encourage readers to learn more about these concepts in holistic healing and consider using integrative mind-body and energetic therapies to help heal health issues at their source rather than spending many years and many paychecks merely treating symptoms and never resolving health challenges.  If other people have experienced full healing with these approaches, YOU can too!
