I’m Emily Clark, and I’m here to tell you that you're not alone.
I have spent the last seven years specializing in bringing the benefits of the Alexander Technique to adults over 50.
I understand what you’re going through because I’ve been there myself. I turned to the Alexander Technique as a last resort. I developed repetitive strain injury (carpal tunnel syndrome) working on the computer.
Wrist pain, numbness and debilitating neck pain affected my life and work performance every day. I tried braces, wrist rests and painkillers but nothing worked.
I had to do something and decided to give the Alexander Technique a try. With this unique movement reeducation method, my pain diminished quickly and eventually vanished. I still use a computer every day, but without pain. In addition, my posture dramatically improved and I became more self-confident.
If you have a chronic condition you need more than relief from symptoms.
You need:
- A gentle solution that helps you release patterns of muscle tension
- An approach that increases the ease in your body
- A way to do your activities with appropriate effort rather than “overdoing”
- A teacher who listens and tailors each session to your personal needs
What can this mean for you?
- Freedom from pain and discomfort
- Better posture and balance
- Effective tools to manage stress
- The ability to enjoy life more fully

What people are saying about the Alexander Technique
“After a life-threatening car wreck, a healthcare practitioner sent me to Emily for my severe limp. Recovering from 4 broken ribs, compound fractures and post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), I had to relearn the skills we take for granted like sitting, walking and climbing stairs.
“After only 4 Alexander Technique lessons, I could sit in a chair again without fear of falling. After 8 lessons I was able to walk up stairs in balance and unassisted.
“I looked forward to unwinding with my simple Alexander “homework” after long days of doctor and physical therapist appointments. The tools I learned relieved my PTSD as well.
“Now I walk so normally people can’t believe I was in a severe accident. I’ve resumed most of my active lifestyle, including my career as an exercise instructor.
“I feel lucky to be alive!”
- Billie Rosenberger, 55
“When I first came to see Emily, my upper body was full of tension. I also had pain and limited motion in one shoulder and down one arm.
“After just 2 Alexander Technique lessons, the tension in my shoulders was reduced. I learned simple ways to prevent myself from becoming more tense.
"And it’s been very effective at pain management. Now I’m able to perform my daily tasks with much more ease and comfort, and I feel much more positive about life.”
