Unconscious Eating

How many of us eat while doing something else. EVERYONE DOES. This is the crux of our problem. We are not enjoying the food we eat because we are watching television, driving the car, talking on the cell phone or working on the computer as we shovel the food into our mouths. Eating has become one more task. The sad thing is that because we are eating unconsciously as we multitask, we aren’t even enjoying it.

The first step towards reaching your optimal weight is to eat consciously. This means eating and being in the moment as you do so. No multitasking. When you do this, you concentrate on eating, enjoying the texture and tastes of the foods you are consuming.

Eat What You Like

There are no bad foods, if you follow the other rules, you can eat whatever you like, because your body will moderate the amount. And because you have stopped eating the foods you don’t like and then sneaking the foods you do, the calorie count will be lower.

Put the Fork Down

The next step involves undoing some very bad programming. Most of us shovel our food into our mouth. We are going so fast that we don’t even put the fork down between bites. Try this out. Take a bit of food, put the fork down, chew the food slowly and swallow. Take a breath then pick up the fork and take another bite. Repeat this until you start to notice a sensation of fullness.

This takes me to the next step.

Listen to Your body

Most of us ignore our body until it is ravenous. Then we are so hungry that we wolf down way too much food. If you start to pay attention you will notice those first signs of hunger. When you are hungry eat, when you aren’t, don’t eat.  It’s so simple. This may mean that you revert back to your childhood behaviors. When you were little if it was dinner time and you weren’t hungry you found a way to avoid eating. Somewhere we lost this gift. Get it back. I remember as a little girl retreating to the bathroom and hiding there until dinner was over. I was a skinny and healthy little girl.

You probably know that hypnosis can help people stop smoking or lose weight. You might have seen a stage hypnotist where participants bark like dogs or do other silly things. But hypnosis can improve your life in many amazing ways beyond those mentioned without causing you to bark, cluck or do other silly things.

  1. Find lost objects: If you were the one who put it away, or you witnessed it being put away, hypnosis might help. Even if the incident was years ago. Try it and see what happens.
  2. Learn to like foods you've avoided: veggies are healthy, and whole-grain bread is better for you than white, but what if you just don't like the taste? A little hypnosis and you might find that your taste buds are adjusting to like these healthy foods.
  3. End cravings for unhealthy foods, people and activities: Hypnosis can help you turn down brownies, stop uncontrolled shopping, or even give up that selfish boyfriend.
  4. Enjoy public speaking: They call it a fear greater than death. Too bad, being an effective speaker can boost your career. If stopping smoking stops draining money, becoming a good speaker puts money in the bank.
  5. Exercise longer, stronger and more efficiently: Hypnosis can help your turn distaste for working out into a craving. Ask yourself: "What would exercising give me? What would it make possible in my life?" A talented hypnotherapist spins a powerful motivational story for your subconscious, making it all so desirable that you can't wait to shop for running shoes.
  6. Attract your life partner: You think finding the person of your dreams is about mesmerizing him or her. Start with you. Hypnosis for confidence, sex appeal, or immediate rapport gives you a feeling you've never had before. And that sense of self is very appealing to others. Try it out.
  7. Get more done in less time: It's not all about organizing your files or upgrading your technology. Productivity, effectiveness, and enjoying what you do all start in your subconscious mind.
  8. Become more focused: Learn how to calm all the racing thoughts and feelings so you can prioritize and concentrate on doing one thing at a time. Multitasking decreases our memory. Focus allows you to excel in a task, and then move on to the next one.
  9. Sleep better: Hypnotic techniques can be easily learned and you can change your breathing and mental imaging to create a restful night's sleep.
  10. Deal with unpleasant people: Everyone has a few or many difficult people to contend with. Hypnosis can help you find your inner balance and peace so these squeaky wheels don't drain your energy and interrupt your good mood.
  11. Improve memory: Everything is in your subconscious; hypnosis can help you gain clarity so you store important information so it is easily recovered.
  12. Heal from surgery faster: Enlist your own internal resources to lessen fear and discomfort. As you do so the healing process is accelerated and you feel better faster.
