About Linnea Splitter, Nutrition Educator
My name is Linnea Splitter and I was born and raised in Sebastopol,
California with a health oriented mother, a
junk-food loving father, and one brother. I am a recent graduate of the
Nutrition Educator program at Bauman College
and am continuing my education for a certificate in the Nutrition Consultant
program. I am specializing in mental health because I have personal experience
with anxiety. In order to better help my clients, I am acquiring a bachelor’s
degree in psychology at Sonoma State
University. I first came to realize
the importance of nutrition a few years ago when I started battling panic
attacks at the age of 15. At first I couldn’t figure out what was happening to
me and it took a few months to figure out that what I was experiencing was
panic attacks. I went to a nutritionist who gave some helpful recommendations
but something seemed a bit off. This particular nutritionist was encouraging me
to eat protein bars that were full of refined sugar, even though the holistic
nutrition books I had been reading advised me to stay away from refined sugars.
I steered towards the advice from the holistic nutrition books and felt a
tremendous difference over the next year. On top of managing my anxiety I lost
almost twenty pounds thanks to holistic foods! After I started feeling better I
thought it was safe to eat like all my friends in high school did, which was
okay for a while. I always had slightly high cholesterol, but during my last
years of high school I learned that it was so high my doctor wanted to put me
on medication. During this time of unhealthy eating my weight went up to more
than it has ever been and has since been a struggle to take off. Since learning
Eating 4 Health, my cholesterol has naturally stayed lowered and I have lowered
my anxiety level. My personal experience with cholesterol, weight, and
especially anxiety has given me passion to help other people feel their best
and manage their health through holistic nutrition.
