Acupuncture and Weight Loss – The Basics

One of the most common questions asked is “Does acupuncture help you lose weight?” My answer is always two fold - Yes, but no magic bullet exists – diet and exercise are still key. Millions struggle with weight loss. It’s estimated that over two-thirds of adult Americans are overweight or obese.

So how does acupuncture help? Acupuncture looks at your body as a whole –not only your physical fitness, but the state of your mind and spirit. I take a look at the root of the problem and the outlying issues.  Is your weight gain stress related, hormonally influenced, or are your cravings out of control? acupuncture can help. Have you recently injured yourself and are not following your regular fitness routine?  Acupuncture can help with the aches and pains. Perhaps you lack motivation and a general feeling of well-being. Acupuncture is great for getting you unstuck from a rut.
