Depression, Anxiety Linked to Weight Gain

In a recent article published in the British Medical Journal Online First, researchers found that those that suffer from depression and anxiety tend to gain weight over time and become obese. In, fact people that suffer from depression have over 50% chance of being obese.

You may ask yourself, what came first the chicken or the egg – and so did the researchers. What if the question was posed as those that are obese become depressed or suffer from mental illness? This study showed no significant link, while other studies have shown a correlation.

No matter if you feel depressed, anxious or just plain stressed and notice that the pounds keep packing on – acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help. I find with most patients they go hand in hand. By making you feel better and less stressed, this should give you that extra boost to feel good about yourself and continue treating yourself properly with healthy food choices and an exercise routine.
