How to Grow Your M0ney Bucket by PJ Van Hulle
Has this ever happened to you? You've shared with friends and family that you're building your practice and you're ready for new clients. But the clients don't come as quickly as you had expected and you're starting to doubt yourself...
Over and over again, I've seen two practitioners with the same training. One goes on to have fabulous success while the other struggles to attract enough clients. You might think it has to do with their skill level, but this is only a small portion of the equation.
More important than their ability as a practitioner is the size of their "M0ney Bucket."
I came up with this term to explain the amount of money that a particular person can energetically "hold" at one time.
For example, when I came back from living in Japan to the U.S., I worked part time at Starbucks. I got paid a few hundred dollars per month and then I turned around and spent a few hundred dollars per month in renting a room from my mom, buying food, etc. My M0ney Bucket could hold around $500, and the thought of having even $2,000 in my savings account made feel excited and wealthy.
After completing my training and earning my first "paycheck" for over $2,000, my M0ney Bucket hit a growth spurt. From then on, I lived my life in the $1,000-$5,000 range. My income had gone up and so had my expenses.
Now it's grown to hold well over 6-figures every year (and that's just from my coaching and seminar business, not to mention my other businesses).
How does your M0ney Bucket impact your Practice? If your M0ney Bucket isn't big enough to hold the level of success that you want, you'll either subconsciously find a way to sabotage your success, or you'll make m0ney but then lose it very quickly, as in the case of lottery winners who lose it all.
So, how do you get a bigger M0ney Bucket? Awareness is the first step, and just by reading this article, your M0ney Bucket is starting to expand.
Here are 3 other tips to help you Grow Your M0ney Bucket:
1. Spend time with people who have a bigger M0ney Bucket than you
How do you know if someone has a bigger M0ney Bucket than you? It's simple. They're earning more and keeping more than you. While it's considered rude to ask someone about their bank balance in our culture, you usually have a sense by whether they have a positive attitude when it comes to m0ney.
2. Decide that m0ney is important to you
I've heard so many Holistic Practitioners and Coaches say, "Well, money isn't THAT important to me." If I tell you "You're not that important to me," how long are you going to want to stay in a relationship with me? You'll probably leave...money is the same way. Nurture your relationship with money.
One way to do this is to be respectful and honoring of your money. Don't leave change lying around & bills crumpled up. Keep it neat & orderly & safe - it's also good to be conscious of how much you have.
3. Invest in your education
It's especially important to invest in your financial education. You've probably invested plenty in your professional education to learn your modality, but most practitioners and coaches don't have a lot of education about how to run their business or about how money works. Make it important to invest your time, energy and money in programs that teach you how to use money in a powerful manner because without it, you just can't serve as many clients.
