The year was circa 1972 when I was first exposed to yoga on public television, and my life was never the same since them. Back then yoga was simple and fun. Just stretch to your comfort and don't hurt yourself. When I trained to teach yoga I learned the purpose, as I was taught was to prepare your body, mind, and emotions for deeper meditation to touch your soul.
Nearly four decades later and I find people still afraid to do yoga because they feel they have to bend like a pretzel, and many who join yoga get hurt or discouraged because of all the physical gymnastics or strain or sweating that goes on today in yoga classes. Great news! There is gentle yoga for everyone else! Original, simple, gentle, and very helpful yoga that calms the mind and relaxes the stress out of the body. Everyone can practice yoga, in a chair, bed, or on a mat on the floor.
