I have noticed that animals clearly recognize the "good stuff." Oft times animals magnate to me when I am wearing the Young Living oils (Read: Always) and interacte in ways that usually surprise their keepers.
FELINE ATTRACTION
One time I visited a friend who owned a cat that nobody ever saw but her, until that day. We were sitting on the living room floor chatting when the cat appeared. My friend's eyes widened, as the cat then proceeded to meander across the room to my side where it ritually licked my hands, front and back and between my fingers before sauntering off.. By then, my friend's mouth was pretty much on the floor. I had applied the digestive blend and perhaps Peppermint on my adbomen before driving to her house… and the oils were still present on my hands. Animals especially love the oils in that blend.
EQUINE RESPONSE
Several years ago I facilitated a Raindrop session on a former racehorse that was being rehabilitated by its new owner. Starting with Valor in the palm of my hand, I offered this to the horse who buried his nose in my palm, pulled his head away for a moment then buried his nose in my palm again. Soon the head dropped as if to say… “Fine…do whatever you want.” We proceeded with the Raindrop and the horse remained fairly relaxed even though I was an unfamiliar person, and the session was a new process. Later, she reported having the best ride ever, with the horse's gate and temperment smooth as silk. None of the customary hitches or behaviors from prior abuse, and a mildly inflamed area on the spine had cleared up.
CANINE RESPONSE
I visited one day and watched as a Scottish Highland Terrier went through his series of tricks for some customers and played with a young boy for a while. When they were done, I knelt down and welcomed Willie, who darted over, jumped in my lap and nuzzled my abdomen and neck like we were old buds. I looked up and noticed his keeper was quite surprised. She said, “Willie doesn’t get up in anyone’s lap, not even mine… do you have a way with animals?”
Well yes but I confessed that I also had something on my person that he recognized and attracted to. As it turned out, Willie had an issue with licking his feet till nearly raw, as well as his abdomen and he often kept her up at night doing so. I mentioned the oils briefly and asked if she would be interested in seeing if Lavender was helpful? So I came back and let her apply some on Willie’s feet and belly. Just as she was asking how soon she might see a response, Willie began zipping around the store, rolling, snorting and begging to play with his tug toy. I asked if this was normal behavior for 3:00 pm and she said, “Well no…” Willie was feeling pretty darned good – euphoric even! She bought a half bottle of Lavender and said the licking and raw skin issue was much improved, as was her sleep. (For sure, there must be a deeper issue with the dog's food, digestion or stress, but this was a good starting place).
It may be useful to mention, when familiarizing people to the oils and explaining the difference in the grades of oils, that animals know, and you can’t fool animals about quality and content. It would be interesting to test some of the commercially available oils and Young Living’s oils by simply offering it to them to interact with. I believe it would be quite telling.
