Looking for subjects to Blog about?  All you have to do is check the front page of Yahoo on a daily basis and you will find Blog topics galore.

This blog post is #4 in a series of examples of what I call "writing about a topical event or subject".

And it is truly a sad one.  Farrah Fawcett has anal cancer and she has reportedly sought alternative medicine as part of her treatment.

According to the experts, anal cancer is a curable disease.

According to Deborah Mitchell of Phoenix Alternative Medicine Examiner, some alternative medicine treatments can help patients cope with the side effects of their conventional cancer treatment and also improve quality of life. Some of those options include the following:

  • Acupuncture: Use of acupuncture has been shown to significantly reduce pain associated with cancer and to have a beneficial impact on the nausea that can accompany chemotherapy.
  • Aromatherapy: The use of essential oils can relieve the nausea associated with chemotherapy, as well as anxiety, stress, and pain.
  • Massage: Various studies show that massage is beneficial for fatigue, nausea, pain, stress, anger, and depression
  • Meditation: Relief from fatigue, nausea, pain, depression, insomnia, and stress are benefits offered by meditation.
  • Tai chi: This ancient Chinese martial art can improve functional abilities, balance, and fatigue.
  • Yoga: Quality of life, mood, and overall well-being are improved with the practice of yoga.

Our hearts go out to Farrah Fawcett and her family and friends.  As long as you are sensitive to the plight of a celebrity in the news, I personally believe that a story like this one should be addressed by the CAM Community to discuss the facts and how our various modalities can help those suffering.

One last point...

In my humble opinion, it is not just the victim who can be helped by CAM Health & Wellness modalities.  Loved ones also in pain and grieving can be helped too.
