With the current threat to human health eoilco laboratories would like to help you to stay vigilant and armed with the latest up to date information with regards to the swine flu.

On Sunday, Washington officials did their best not to overstate the situation and emphasized that their response wasn't out of the ordinary. "I wish we could call it declaration of emergency preparedness, because that's really what it is in this context," said Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. "We're preparing in an environment where we really don't know ultimately what the size or seriousness of this outbreak is going to be.

What You Can Do to Stay Healthy

Follow these simple steps recommended by the CDC to reduce your risk of exposure:

-Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

-Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.

-Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

- Try to avoid close contact with sick people, Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.

-If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

-Practice other good health habits.Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

Aromatherapy has FINALLY made its way to TV land!  I have fallen in love with Everybody Nose with Noelle Katai, her program is provided through Veria TV.  I first heard about her show through the Indie Beauty Network and have watched several episodes and it's good stuff!

The next few shows highlight, Aromatherapy for Teachers, Hair Care and Healthy Perfumery.  If you have cable or satellite look for Veria they offer a whole bunch of alternative programs related to health and wellness.  They have a great pilates segment every morning, it's just like being in a real class.

Check it out, I think that Noelle has done a fantastic job in representing Aromatherapy.

Allergies occur when your immune system overreacts to pollen, molds, grass, dander, fragrances, cosmetics and chemicals. Allergies are not only bothersome, but many be linked to a variety of common and serious chronic respiratory illnesses. If you are one of the millions who suffer from allergies and are looking for some natural alternatives, here are 5 Natural Approaches for Dealing with Allergies.

  1. Change you’re A/C filter every 30 days. Remember, particulate matter including dust and pollen that is not being filtered you are actively inhaling.

  2. Go Fragrance Free. Leave your vanilla freesia shower gel and favorite perfume and cologne for a later date. There are many synthetic chemicals in personal care products. You are you making a bad situation worse by dousing yourself with these smells. Also invest in fragrance free laundry detergent; this will help to eliminate chemical irritants that diffuse through your clothing and linens.

  3. Honey and Bee Pollen. Scientific studies support these all natural wonders and their ability to support a challenged immune system. The good news is, bees gather pollen, and a small amount of it is present in the honey they subsequently produce. When you consume honey that is made by local bees, the pollen you are eating can act like a natural vaccination. It is recommended to take 1 teaspoon of honey per day.

  4. Nettle Herbal Tea. Believe it or not, this herb contains a naturally occurring antihistamine. Nettle also offers an array of proven biological activities and medicinal applications. To make a cup of this herbal tea, heat 1 cup of distilled water and add 1 tablespoon of the fresh or dried herb, let steep for 10 minutes and drink.

  5. Eucalyptus Essential Oil. This all natural expectorant and decongestant will provide ample relief with just a drop or two. Smell drops as needed throughout the day, you can also benefit from a steam inhalation of this essential oil. Simply heat 1 cup of water and add a drop of Eucalyptus, inhale slowly for 10-15 minutes.
