Laughter is the best medicine! It’s exactly the stimulus that is needed right now, don’t you think?
We all know how great it feels when we laugh, but did you know that you can actually lose weight? According to Katie Namrevo, author of Laugh It Off! Weight Loss for the Fun of It, she was able to lose 35 lbs. laughing it off because she found that, as a stress eater, taking time to laugh helped stop her from going to the refrigerator.
After reading an excerpt from her book, I decided to play a little game with myself. I got in the shower and laughed the entire length of the shower . I couldn’t stop laughing and the wave of laughter just kept going. Something inside said, “This feels so good, keep doing it.”
Now, I love to laugh as it gets all the cells in the body giggling in harmony. It’s our own symphonic orchestra that taps into sounds of returning to being a child where laughter and giggles are encouraged.
Incidentally, did you know that according to French neurologist, Henri Rubenstein, “One minute of laughter can give the body up to 45 minutes of therapeutic relaxation.” WOW!
How can you laugh for 20 seconds? As a fun coach, who uses humor as a foundation, I’m surprised when people tell me that they’re so focused on their daily “to do” list that they forget to have fun. With this said, here is a little gift, a short audio, from me to you so you can remember to laugh throughout the day and give your body the therapeutic relaxation Henri Rubenstein was talking about. And who knows maybe you’ll even laugh your butt off….literally!
