Having Alan come out to New Jersey was a true gift... and "heaps of fun."
We managed to balance work and play quite well.
We toured New York City, had a few suds at McSorley's, and then on to a great Mexican dinner in Greenwich Village.
We had a fabulous time "people watching" at the ever-entertaining Colorado Cafe in Watchung, New Jersey.
Alan presented a fascinating and eye opening seminar on the TJM Classics.
It was more than your typical "Acu-tainment" workshop.
There was concrete introductory theory and useful practical applications - a few of which I took right back to my clinic on the following Monday.
Thank you Alan for taking the time to come to our little corner of the globe, and sharing your knowledge. We loved having you and learned much!

What a great service that is to have such detailed theory and practice delivered on the computer! thank you for doing that-- seeing the treatment really helped me to connect with some of the subtleties of its execution and reasoning.
you're a gem!

I appreciate you coming all the way out here to show us some stuff.
I was very impressed and am now committed to developing my skills in Traditional Acupuncture. Your presentation was interesting, insightful, inspiring, and fun!
Both Jennifer and I will be spending considerable time in working out this stuff. I think we both feel this is where it's at.
Hope to place an order for the DVD sets soon.

I tentatively began doing scatter needling on a few patients just using the plastic tube, and the results have been really astonishing. I started doing it because I was impressed with how well I responded when you did the demo on my shoulder. You really should talk it up more in your workshops. It's fantastic stuff and it's something practitioners can apply right away, while we're learning about all the theory.
My very best,
Monique "Mo" Rivera L.Ac.
I just wanted to express my gratitude for the workshop this weekend. It really put a lot of things into perspective for me. I feel like I have to re-organize what I know and start all over again. It is very humbling. It was wonderful to meet you, you made us laugh a lot, and that made me feel very comfortable. The next time you come to teach in New Jersey, it will have to be for at least a week.
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement on the last email.
I appreciated your seminar greatly.
I can not wait to practice again and learn more of what you demonstrated!
By all means, I would be interested in any other seminars when you come this way!
Learning tonetskyu at the first workshop was great. I had been wanting to learn that skill for ages. I do tonetsukyuu almost every day on myself or my partner, my mother etc. God knows when I will become competent at it but I really enjoy doing it.
Second workshop on Ikeda Sensei's point selection protocol was a revelation. It really showcased for me what an elegant, logical theory base is at the core of Sensei's approach to treatment. It gave me something I could pick up and use straight away, while hinting at the massive depth I could look forward to exploring in the art. I have certainly had great success using root treatments. I have already got my mother away from a decade-long dependence on expensive anti-migraine drugs using Liver Root treatments, tonetsukyuu on KI-1 and back-shu needling.
Third workshop at the GC was an excellent chance to observe your work more internally. I was not in good shape at the time. It was quite instructive to feel my body change and begin to heal within seconds of the root tx. Your treatment of myself and others allowed me to learn more about the way people move in and out of their constitutions, among other things.
Fourth workshop was also huge. I've been chomping at the bit to find an entryway into pulse and abdomen diagnosis. Now I have a bit of direction in that regard which is very important to me. The theory portion on lung deficiency/kidney deficiency/liver excess was also very exciting.
Basically I want to tell you that I am enormously grateful for the training you are providing. You are providing all of your students with a doorway into great depth of understanding and skill. I had always suspected that such depth existed within the art, but how can it be accessed from a book or a place like ACNM? I was honestly a bit crushed to hear that you were considering not doing any more workshops due to poor attendance. I'm prepared to pay more if it will make it worth your while. It's very valuable to have time where your attention is focused directly on instructing/correcting technique/explaining theory etc. For me, it is an important synergist with the clinical observation time, allowing more of it to make sense.
Last workshop on the Goldie was really a big buzz for me. I really enjoyed the format and I got a lot from being treated and see other people being treated. I am starting to get my head around the treatments. Very exciting time. So big thanks to you.
Thanks so much for the workshop on the Gold Coast last Saturday, it was a great start and I am really looking forward to further workshops and learning from you.

You just made my day!
I got your mail, went to your site and started reading everything from chronic fatigue syndrome to pre and post natal care, getting all buzzed up on my chair at the internet cafe in the beautiful hill town called the McCloudganj, the present home of Dalai Lama by the foothills of the Himalayas.
As I was getting excited of everything I was reading and just feeling the Ki circulating in me by the mere thought of how different treatments work, I started feeling this familiar nervous tickle inside me which is caused by the understanding I always have while learning more about acupuncture, of how much more there is for me to learn and how every day at a clinic and with a patient is like a new day again (which though, makes the work all the more pleasurable to wake up to also;) ).
And as much as I enjoy the feeling and understand how I'm only at the beginning of my journey, I do get frustrated when I feel insecure with what I know so far when by the side of a client and only being able to do the 'best' i know and can how to,
So inspired by this frustrated tickle I clicked the link 'from practitioners perspective' on your sight and found a familiar name with a familiar face and got a taste of my fifteen minutes of fame.
The post was cool and you inspired me yet again with a funniest way when a little kick was what I actually needed. What I didn't mention before is how valuable your newsletters and sight has turned out to be for me when travelling and working in the places I have been working and often being alone with what I do, missing the companion and quidance of other acupuncturists.
So a big thanks to you again as well as the wonderful possibilities the world wide web provides us!
A freshly inspired mountain air hello from me again, Have a Great Day!

Suffice it to say that I am waiting on the edge of my seat for your new Blog AND the launch of your new website!! Congratulations! I am sure the acupuncture profession will benefit from your years of experience, knowledge, and perspective (not to mention, sense of humor). Thanks for putting it all together for the rest of us to learn from and grow.

Thank you so much for the last clinic session.
I enjoyed it so much, it was beautiful to have a child as a patient.
I know that i will learn a lot beside you.

“My involvement with Alan has been during a period where I finished my uni course and started the long and exhausting process of establishing a clinical practice. As we know, many fail as it can be just too hard. Alan has always supported me in my struggle to establish myself. At times when I felt like giving up, Alan's retreats have recharged my batteries.”

“I found Alan to have a real understanding of the depth of Chinese medicine which has provided me an ongoing opportunity of expanding my knowledge and understanding.”

“Alan was able to reignite my interest in Acupuncture through his teaching and his relating of his own personal experience on the subject. I found him to be a wealth of practical knowledge which could only have come through years of practical experience.”

"My excessively strong and simplistic acupuncture techniques, after several years, left me professionally unsatisfied and on the verge of quitting. Since then I have had the opportunity, in Alan’s centre, to observe more subtle techniques and a clear congruency between practice and theory. The result was an awakening to the versatility and potential of acupuncture and a desire for further investigation and discovery. An ongoing professional development program with a suitable practitioner is highly recommended for those professionals striving to achieve more for their patients."

“Alan has been kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to come down to Melbourne for the past 4 years to hold workshops on Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. They have certainly helped many of us during these particularly difficult years of establishing our clinics, and we always come away from his workshops highly inspired and filled with much new knowledge.”

“I am indebted to Alan Jansson for providing me with the tools to review, absorb, study and learn. The rewards have been so tangible - my skills and effectiveness as an acupuncturist have expanded exponentially in just a few years. I am just a beginner, but already so many more patients have been helped. Thank you!”
